What is a sworn translation?
A sworn translation is an official translation certified by translator who has been tested and authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in Spain). With the translator’s certification, signature and stamp, it is a legally valid document.
Does a sworn translation "expire"?
Sworn translations do not expire; they are valid for as long as the original document remains valid. Nevertheless, some institutions may require that the document and its translation be recent.
Do I need a hard copy of the sworn translation or will the PDF be enough?
Digitally signed documents are accepted in Spain and other countries for many procedures nowadays; please check with the institution where you have to submit your documents.
That is why we recommend you request a copy on paper; you will receive it by postal mail.
Do I need an apostille or legalization of the original document?
This depends on the requirements of the institution where you plan to submit the document.
But it is always advisable to clarify this question as soon as possible, especially since the apostille can only be requested in the country where your original document was issued.
Does the sworn translation include legalization or apostille?
No. The translation does not include the apostille or legalization of the original document. Within Spain, sworn translations are legally valid without requiring any additional legalization. If the translation is to be used in another country, you will need to clarify if this is a requirement.
Note that any legalization stamps and apostilles must also be translated, so you will need to obtain them before you send us the document for translation.
Why do the apostilles also need to be translated?
Although the apostille form is issued in three languages, it is completed in the language of the country where it is issued; as a result, it will also need to be translated.
When will I receive my quote?
We try to send your quote as fast as possible. We guarantee a turnaround of at most 24 hours on working days.
Why did you ask me to resend the documents, if the photos I sent clearly show that the document is three pages long?
A poor quality photo is sufficient to enable us to budget your job, but we need a good quality photo or scan to be able to produce the translation.
Also, we must attach a copy of your original document as part of our translation. That needs to be fully legible.
